When I started KC Geeks, it was obviously to share geek groups and resources available in the Kansas City area. But to me, it’s also about being a Kansas City geek – as in, a geek ABOUT Kansas City. My family moved here when I was three, so I’m basically a Kansas City native. I’ve also lived in Wisconsin and St. Louis, but my husband and I came back here to raise our family here. We love Kansas City, and love sharing it with friends who come to visit.
Someone with a similar passion is Jetta Smith, host of the “Easy to Linger” podcast. Her Kansas City podcast takes the form of walking tours, allowing listeners the freedom to learn about an area at his or her convenience. I’ll let her tell you about why she thinks it’s Easy to Linger in Kansas City.
What is the name of your Kansas City podcast?
Easy to Linger
What is your name and what is your role in the podcast?
Jetta Smith; right now everything from researcher to speaker
How would you describe your podcast? Who is your audience?
Walking tours of interesting sights. So far it is just around Kansas City, but I plan to expand. My audience is people interested in local history or tourists.
When was the podcast launched?

I wanted to listen to walking tours on places around Kansas City. After not finding any, I decided to create some.
How often do you publish shows?
Once a month but my goal is twice a month.
What do you discuss in your shows?
Anything about the area i.e. architecture, history, current news, etc.
How long are your shows?
Usually around 30 minutes
What do you love about your show? What makes it unique?
I love learning about places I like to visit. It’s unique because as far as I know it is the only walking tour podcast for Kansas City.
Tell us about a particularly memorable moment in your show.
The one I just finished writing is about the Korean War Memorial in Overland Park, Kansas. Reading about the war and seeing the memorial plaques really help me realize part of what the soldiers went through and how much they helped South Korea.
